History of the Evisu Seagull

History of the Evisu Seagull evisu_seagull_pockets_LJ11.jpg

We are excited about the new evolution of Evisu now that new CEO/Creative Director Scott Morrison has taken over the brand. Previously of Paper Denim & Cloth and Earnest Sewn, known for classic jeans that are amazingly soft and comfortable with incredible washes, Scott is sure to do more amazing work with Evisu. We spotted this history of the Evisu online and thought we’d share it with our readers.

Designer Hidehiko Yamane started Evisu in 1991 in Osaka, Japan and mimicked Levi’s Red Tab 501XX. He personally hand painted his Seagull logo on every pair. What we love is that Scott Morrison has taken the famous seagull logo and distressed it perfectly, giving the pockets a worn in, not-too-subtle but not-too-eye-popping either look. Can’t wait to see more!
