I was first impressed when I saw the Salt Works jeans at the showroom here in NYC. They are aimed at the “real” woman. The real woman is curvy and has a waist, but is not malnourished, and not unrealistically thin like many of the models. But Salt Works is nothing like some other brands that aim for this same market. Their jeans are fun, modern, and have cool details like buttons at the ankle and attention-getting decoration on the butt pockets.
Salt Work’s PR was my “second” impression. This dynamic 20 year old PR director showed what it is to be really in charge and how dynamism translates into real action. Salt Works does not have a lookbook per se, so Alex, the PR person, and I chose some jeans for this post. She called in a “real” woman model and the next day we had our custom made lookbook ready – by the way, exclusively for Denimology! Their sizes run from 27 to 36, including petite and missy, with a price tag of around $60. Such a deal!
