Levi’s UK Go Forth Withdrawn Ad

We’ve been having a few “issues” in the UK with rioting/looting this week and one of the many unfortunate victims of this mindless behaviour has been Levi’s who have had to withdraw their new ad campaign. As far as I am concerned this is a great shame because this ad is a fantastic piece of work, which unluckily for Levi’s has managed to capture the mood of the nation just a little too accurately to be comfortable for some people. The TV campaign may have been pulled but luckily we still have YouTube. And in case you were wondering where the amazing words soundtracking the video came from, that’s Charles Bukowski’s poem The Laughing Heart.

Your life is your life
Don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
Be on the watch.
There are ways out.
There is a light somewhere.
It may not be much light but
It beats the darkness.
Be on the watch.
The gods will offer you chances.
Know them.
Take them.
You can’t beat death but
You can beat death in life, sometimes.
And the more often you learn to do it,
The more light there will be.
Your life is your life.
Know it while you have it.
You are marvelous
The gods wait to delight
In you.
