I’ve always had a thing for denim dresses. I still remember my very first one when I was a five year old girl and the feeling of “coolness” and pride I had when I wore it. And even today, many years later, I still get especially excited about a nice denim frock. The 7 For All Mankind Sleeveless Shirtdress in Indigo had that exact same effect on me and here’s why….
First of all I love-love-love the design! It is somewhat unexpected for a shirtdress and has a very distinct and bright personality. The sleeveless mock neck silhouette with big flap patch pockets on the chest and epaulets on the shoulders give the dress an edgy utilitarian feel that is softened up and glamorized by polished rose gold buttons and a shiny zipper underneath the placket. The natural color leather wrap belt is super chic next to the dark blue fabric and adds a feminine touch to the overall look.
I was also very pleased with the cut of this dress. The fit is perfect in every way, even in complicated areas such as the armholes. I absolutely can’t stand the side bulging that you often can get with sleeveless silhouettes, in fact this is an absolute “no-no” for me. In this case the armholes lie flat just like they supposed to. I also like the slim shape of this dress; it doesn’t add any unnecessary volume to your frame even considering the cinched waist which can be tricky sometimes.
The denim of the 7FAM shirtdress is another reason for its successful execution. It is very thin which is obviously perfect for hot summer weather while also not creating any extra bulk. This 100% cotton fabric is incredibly soft, has an amazing hand feel and is very pleasant to wear. I felt as comfortable wearing this dress as I do in my pajamas.
Based on my personal experience I can say that sizing is according to the standard chart – my usual XS fits great.
If you are looking for a cool fashionable piece to add to your summer wardrobe you definitely should consider the 7 For All Mankind Sleeveless Denim Shirtdress in Indigo. It’s a perfect way to be stylish even on the hottest days.
