New denim label Freedom of Choice makes a compelling case for retro fashion with its F/W 08 collection. By mixing the defiant attitude of the 70s and high-volt energy of the 80s with a twist of clean, modern lines, designer Nathan Menashe establishes a throwback formula minus all the cheese. And the choices are endless- FOC’s version of acid wash is unapologetically runway-bold (think Karen Walker), its flares & skinnies come in rich royal and turquoise, a moody denim trench is altogether sophisticated and laid back, and the asymmetrical high-waisted shorts embody all that is dazed and confused debauchery.
