Levi Strauss & Co. is no doubt bothered at rival Gap Inc.’s announcement last week that it is re-launching its 1969 denim line…including a selvage jean that closely resemble Levi’s selvage products. Gap gave a sneak peek of the new additions to their denim line at a press preview in New York on Monday. The line includes several new styles and washes for men and women, from skinnies to straight legs, and of course a boyfriend jean for women. Gap’s denim design team spent a year and a half coming up with a collection of denim under $60 that rivals premium brands that retail for $150 to $500.

The selvage jeans are made with copper rivets, coin pocket and leg cuffs–and will be available only in select global markets and at Gap’s online store.
