I not only love the clothes that appear on the runway, but find the behind-the-scenes and fashion worn to the shows to be equally as fascinating. Denim is such a huge part of a chic wardrobe, no matter how you wear it or who you are. For those who minimize the fleeting fancy of Fashion Week, a little research reminded me that last year the two annual Fashion Weeks in New York drew 232,000 attendees, generated $466 million in direct visitor spending, and resulted in an overall economic impact on New York City of $773 million. New York City’s fashion industry provides 175,000 jobs, $1.6 billion in annual tax revenue and $10 billion in total wages. So as we now move on the London Fashion Week and obsessing over the runway looks I think it’s important to appreciate the economic benefits which are derived from these events, no matter where they occur.
