There is no greater context for the important role Jeans play in fashion then the opening sequence of The September Issue. The movie, which chronicles the eight months prior to the September issue of Vogue coming out, features Vogue editor Anna Wintour stating in the opening scene, “Just because you like to put on a beautiful Carolina Herrera dress or a pair of J Brand blue jeans instead of something basic from K-Mart doesn’t mean you’re a dumb person”.

A brilliant film (which I believe will be an Academy Award Nominee) shows Anna Wintour squaring off with numerous designers over their collections as well as her staff. Grace Coddington is a scene stealer without even trying and no one is funnier than Andre’ Leon Talley who plays tennis draped in Louis Vuitton. I’m obsessed with fashion, so it’s easy to say I’m the target audience although the theater was filled with people who laughed and enjoyed watching the hard work that truly goes into the making of Vogue Magazine. I give it two thumbs up! The film is playing in select cities.
