In one of the most unexpected and interesting pieces of denim news of recent weeks J. Crew have announced that they are to collaborate with Japanese denim brand Warehouse on an exclusive pair of jeans named the Lot 484 after their store at 484 Broadway in New York. The jeans are made from 14oz denim woven and dyed in Japan and J. Crew will even hem them the old fashioned way using a Union Special 43200 chain stitch machine. I have been really impressed with the direction J. Crew has been taking recently, for a mainstream retailer to venture into a niche like Japanese denim which is currently the preserve of specialist boutiques such as Self Edge and Blue In Green is a really interesting move.
