The top selling cargo right now is J Brand’s Houlihan pant, so much so that the New York Times did a story on them. I’m super excited to expand what I’m reviewing to include cargo’s (I never thought I’d be a bit over skinny denim jeans but it did happen). I’ve done quite a few celebrity sightings in these cargos everyone from Jessica Alba to Amanda Seyfried have been seen wearing these and looking fab while doing so.
There are lots of elements of these cargo’s that I really like. The pocket detail is amazing and the pants have a worn in look to them that I really like a lot. The skinny leg fit is what makes people so loyal to J Brand and carries over to their cargos and I really like the zipper at the ankle. The fabric is a bit thicker than I thought it would be but that’s not a negative just an observation. I really like the way they look although I found them to be a bit tight at the waist band, if my other pants were tight too I’d be worried but they aren’t (sigh of relief!). Other than that the fit is perfect! I love the vary of choices these come in from black, shark, sand, olive to vintage navy, J Brand has done a great job in offering up the seasons hottest pant in an array of great colors!
I paired these with a Free People top that I wear all the time and my go to shoes by Jeffrey Campbell. I’m so into these shoes I promise you won’t see them in my next review (well you might but it would be my Moms pair in black). What is great about the current cargo trend is the ability to wear anything with them from day to evening. Cargo’s are a breath of fresh air to my wardrobe and I understand how J Brand made their mark in this territory by getting theirs out first to customers who wanted something new.
Photography note – it took a week to master the blurred background in these pictures I never thought it would be so difficult to figure it out but after a few fails we finally figured it out.
The J Brand Houlihan Cargo pants reviewed here are available online from $230.
