I first saw the J Brand Agnes Stealth Jean at FNO in Los Angeles and it was love at first sight. The sheen on these “jeans” (which actually look more like leather than denim) is vibrant, the inside are soft as can be and the fit is impeccable. I saw one of the girls working with J Brand wearing them and I was blown away by the precise fit, almost a meshing of a slack, jean and moto zip pant. I had yet to see a jean or pant like these before and was pretty much blown away by them. To say that I am super excited to be reviewing these is an understatement, just as J Brand’s Houlihan Cargo took over the summer, this could very likely be their follow up success story.
Made of a coated stretch denim (98% cotton and 2% Spandex) these babies hold their shape and don’t gap or bag when wearing. Although considered a ‘Moto” Jean the Stealth is a class act all the way, more apt to be found on the ladies who frequent Paris fashion shows than ride motorcycles. The clean lines and subtle detail at the knee aren’t in your face as many of the “Moto” styles of last season were. The ankle zipper which reaches up to the knee detail creates a sleek look elongating the legs even for those of us who will never walk a runway. Although technically low-rise I never once felt them slip down even when sitting, which speaks volumes about the design team at J Brand whose fabulous fits have engendered such a loyal fanbase. The only negative (and I mean only) is man these were tough to shoot. The sheen made the light bounce which is why you will see me with two different shirts on in these photos. If you really want to know I even did a shoot with my old blonde hair so after 3 shoots I finally was happy with the pictures and felt that the love I have in my heart for these jeans came through.
Rihanna was the first celeb we spotted wearing the Stealth, then Hilary Duff wore them this past week and I expect that we will see these popping up everywhere from red carpet to Robertson Blvd. As the denim market has become inundated with brands and consumers shifted their focus from jeans to jeggings, then to cargos, these jeans are the latest incarnation in the manipulation of denim and fashion trends. J Brand has the ability to fit pretty much any shape. I saw Jennifer Hudson in the Weight Watchers commercial wearing J Brand, Kristen Stewart wore them so often I stopped doing posts, Katy Perry has been spotted wearing the camouflage legging, even that cutie Willow Smith has been sporting J Brand, my point being a brand is only as good as the consumers ability to wear it and when all these different people with diverse shapes and fashion sense can wear the same brand you know you are doing something right.
How would I rate the J Brand Agnes Stealth? Perfection. Priced around $250 this is a must have for any fashionista willing to spend a bit to get a lot.
Update: I failed to mention my awesome flannel shirt is part of the Jennifer Herrema / Volcom collaboration.
