Ania Style - J Brand Low Rise 11" Legging in White IMG_6714a.jpg

Hi there, first of all I would like to introduce myself, my name is Ania, I am from Calgary, Canada and earlier this month I was lucky enough to win the Denimology/Singer22 Model Contest. Part of the prize was to become their in-house product reviewer testing out all the latest and hottest denim on the market. I began by doing a little research and read up on all the previous denim reviews. The first thing that struck me, apart from all the great jeans, was how lucky Savannah is to live in sunny LA – allowing her to take photos outside at this time of year in just light jackets, jeans and high heels. Unfortunately I do not share her good fortune climate-wise. Stuck in the middle of a cold Canadian winter I am left with nothing more than streets lined with snow and pavements covered by ice. From time to time we experience warm chinook winds (what Californian’s call the Santa Ana’s). It does’t happen often, but I got just so lucky a few days ago. As soon as the weather cleared I was outside taking pictures of the first pair of denim that arrived in the mail.

I was nervous when I intially got this assignment. Unsure of whether the sizing will fit, always weary of buying jeans online. Lo and behold, they fit perfectly. I pulled out a gorgeous pair of white J Brand skinnies from the box. How did they know?! I adore white jeans. I have one pair tucked away in my closet, sealed in a plastic bag (to prevent from yellowing overtime) for fashion emergencies (and dry weather). Sure, white jeans dirty easily, but I have never tried on a pair of white jeans that I didn’t want to own. They are, for me the ultimate substitute for black cigarette jean.

Before I go into any more detail I feel that the most important information I can share when you view the fit of the jeans is my sizes, measurements etc. I am 5’10”, 125 pounds, size 26 and 34 inseam. There is no way any pair of jeans will fit the same on everyone, but to help you judge these babies I think it’s important to be able to compare yourself with the pictures you are looking at (this is my own, online customer experience speaking).

Anyone that owns a pair from J Brand knows that they make you feel like a million bucks. They are perfectly stretchy and hug in all the right places. The only thing I missed while wearing them was the front pockets. Due to the fact that they are THE ultimate in skinny jeans the pockets have been removed to improve the fit, but it would be nice to have some extra storage room nonetheless. Now to the dirt – there really isn’t very much besides the obvious fact that they are white and easy to get dirty.

So are they jeans or are they leggings? I still haven’t made up my mind. All I can say is that if you are planning on getting a new pair of jeans for the spring season, maybe it’s time to re-think that next pair of blue jeans and get in on the trend with some lighter colours and fabrics. And one more thing to remember, if you don’t already own one, buy a nude thong to go with these. I beg you!

The J Brand Low Rise 11″ Legging in White reviewed here are available at for $185.

  1. These jeans are gorgeous. I can’t say enough about the quality and fit of J Brand and these white skinny jeans appear to be of no exception.
