Happy Valentines Day! I hope you all either had incredibly romantic dates, fantastic single appreciation parties or a cozy night in with take out and movies. I opted for a low key evening with a good friend of mine, and we talked about the summer months ahead, and how she’s coming to visit me in California. All that talking about palm trees and bonfires at the beach had me falling even more in love with the 70’s vibe of these Current Elliott High Rise Bell Jeans.
The denim of these jeans is soft and wearable. They seem to be quite resilient–I couldn’t imagine the snug fit stretching or gaping after a few hours which is a relief for a pair of denim I’d want to wear from morning to midnight. The wash is deep blue with no fading, whiskering or distressing, giving them a classic feel. I found the extra-high waist, fitted knees and bell flare super flattering on my sometimes boxy frame as they lengthened my legs and gave me as much of an hour glass figure as I think I’ll ever hope for. Although these do have a throwback 70’s feel they remain modern in their body conscious fit and simplistic design.
I have been on the lookout for a perfect high waisted flare and these definitely qualify as a top contender. They go with just about everything (blouses, t-shirts, tank tops, dress shirts… I tried them with all my favourites!) and are so comfortable. The only problem I had was my inability to wear them with my high heels. They have a 35″ inseam that gave them just enough length to pair with low wedges, but nothing higher. What counteracted this however was how often I could picture myself wearing these jeans. From school to work to errands to date night they could transition with ease, thanks to their perfect wash, simple yellow stitching and clean back pockets. I’d just have to do without my pumps for the night, which is a sacrifice I’d be more than willing to make.
There are others who are just as big of fans of these jeans as I am. Miley Cyrus wore this pair to Justin Beiber’s “Never Say Never” premier, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Megan Fox and Taylor Momsen have all been snapped in the brand. With big name supporters like these it is obvious this line (launched in 2008) has some serious staying power.
