Hey lovelies! Spring is fast approaching and the weather in FL has been absolutely wonderful! The positive change in the weather has had me dreaming of jean shorts, flowy tops, and lightweight dresses- – to name a few! So, you can imagine my excitement when I received this pair of J Brand Aoki Distressed Cuff Jeans in the mail.
They are the perfect mix between a fitted cropped jean and a slouchy boyfriend jean. (I know, most of you reading this are probably thinking, “Wait? Isn’t that an oxymoron? Fitted, yet slouchy at the same time?” And I say to you, “Yes!”) J Brand has managed to create the perfect cropped jean! Now I know not everyone fancies a slouchy boyfriend jean, so this jean is perfect for those that are ready to try the look – just not so extreme.
The jean is fitted at the hips, and has just the right amount of slouch through the leg. This allows the wearer to dress them up or down, cuffed or un-cuffed – the look is fab either way! Now, let me talk about this ah-mazing wash! The name is “obsessed,” and in my opinion that name is too fitting – because I’m literally ob-sessed! The wash is a deep blue with just the right amount of gray mixed in. Truly unique, and a nice change from the usual washes out there. The fit is undeniably J Brand – -true to size!! This is the second pair of J Brand jeans I have had the pleasure to review, and both pairs fit me so well, it’s as if they were made for me! So far, I’d say J Brand is the front-runner in the designer jean world, when it comes to fitting true to size.
For this pair of jeans, I decided to wear a bright colored tank top to add contrast to the darker wash. I topped it off with a crisp, white blazer to play against the distressed holes in the jean. I easily could have played down this look with just the tank and some flats, but I wanted to show off the versatility of the jean.
One downside of this jean is the position of the hole – it’s right over the knee. It was pretty impossible to squat down without making the hole bigger. I think the perfect area to place a hole on a jean is slightly above the knee, so the hole is still visible, but you do not have to worry about tearing the hole and making it larger each time you bend your knees.
Bottom line, I’d say this pair of jeans would easily find it’s way into any girl’s closet. It has a little bit of everything to make it appealing, yet just enough uniqueness to allow it to stand out from other cropped jeans out there. I say, if you’re looking to shake things up in the jean department – look no further because these Aoki distressed cuff jeans by J Brand are “A-OK” in my book!
