Sex bomb turned denim designer Georgia May Jagger will be appearing at London Dept Store Selfridges along with Hudson Creative Director Ben Taverniti for the launch of the Hudson by Georgia May Jagger Collection tomorrow. You will need to get yourself along to the store on Oxford St between 5 – 6pm on Thursday 10 March to have a chance to meet the model. Georgia was also kind enough to answer a couple of questions about the new collection for us.
Denimology: The collection is partly inspired by Guns N Roses, can you tell us more about what to expect from that?
GMJ: Well I’m a huge fan of Guns N Roses and I always wanted to dress like them in the Paradise City video. The inspirations came from leather pants, I’ve always loved the look of them but I found them to be expensive and pretty hard to wear casually. I wanted to incorporate the details of leather pants such as zippers and lace ups down into a more feminine and versatile look by using soft black and white denim fabric.
Denimology: Your family must have some interesting vintage denim from the 60s/70s/80s. Have you been lucky enough to have any of it passed down to you and if so, what have you received?
GMJ: Well I think Lizzy has some crazy jewel tones pants in her closet from my dad but I actually didn’t get any denim from them sadly. I think my mum gave away a lot before I was born but she still has so many pictures of her and her sisters in the 1970’s in Texas wearing tight boys jeans with cowboy boots. My mother and her Twin sister used to starch their jeans so they stood up on there own and they would need two of them to help close them because they used to wear them so tight.
