The opportunity to wear shorts here in London does not come very often due to our interesting weather patterns… but a couple of days ago we were blessed with some sunshine giving me the chance to try out these high waisted shorts from MiH jeans. These are called the ‘Deauville short‘ and are shown here in the ‘khaki worker’ shade.
I was very impressed with the fit of these, they are a really flattering cut and are nice and snug on the waistband whilst still allowing room to move in the hip and thigh area. I find that this is something of a rarity when it comes to high waisted styles, so was pleasantly surprised after putting these on and not having any gaping areas on the waistband. You can see just by looking at the shorts that a lot of work has gone into the fit and construction – there are dart details to the waist on both the front and back to ensure the perfect tailored fit, and the placement of the cute detailed pockets gives an extra flattering detail to the front. The back pockets are placed slightly higher than on most jeans giving a lift to your rear and avoiding the usual unflattering back view of high waisted styles.
These are a size 25 and fit me perfectly. I would say you can probably go one size smaller than your usual jeans size with these shorts as they are so comfortable and accommodating to slightly wider hips. They are 100% cotton meaning they are soft and easy to wear.
One of the great points about these shorts for me is the colour, its a subtle caramel which can be paired with almost any other colour and can also be paired with black tights in the winter to give these life for another season.
I have paired these with a cropped crochet top and some white cream tights which compliment the colour of these shorts perfectly and would be a great day look for a festival or for holidays this season! They would also look great with a vintage leather belt and a breton striped top tucked in for a chic and subtle summer look.
At £135 for a pair of shorts this may seem a little steep, but the quality and fit of these is so wonderful they might just be worth the price tag!
