What’s better than a great fitting pair of shorts in the summer time? How about a great fitting pair of shorts in the color RED?! I am in love with these J Brand Low Rise Cut Off Shorts in Red. If you’ve been following my denim reviews, then you know how much I adore red denim. It really takes an outfit up a few notches.

I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing J Brand denim on Denimology before (see my previous J Brand denim reviews HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, ), but this is the first pair of denim shorts I’ve reviewed from the brand and I can tell you I’m smitten! J Brand has yet to disappoint me.

I live in Florida and it gets undeniably hot in the summer months, so these shorts are definitely a summer staple I could see myself reaching for on a weekly basis. One thing I love about colored denim (which, btw is such a hot trend right now), is the fact that it can easily be dressed up or down – -more so than a blue denim.

I wanted to create a fun summery look, so I paired the shorts with a white bohemian vintage top and fringe heels. I would love to pair these shorts with some black heels, a blazer, and top knot for a night out – or a casual tank and gladiator sandals for a lunch by the beach.

The fit of these shorts is phenom. They fit like a glove, they don’t ride up (which is common with cut-offs) and they hold their fit (they don’t stretch out after wear). They sit just high enough on your hips for a classic fit, and the fraying is not out-of-control, which can happen on a lot of cut-off shorts.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I really love the look of J Brand denim. I feel it looks great on all body types, no matter your size. It’s become one of my fave brands of denim out there because the fit is so classic and comfortable. It’s no wonder why celebs such as Kate Bosworth, Hayden Panettiere, and Ashley Greene are fans of the brand.

I give these shorts two thumbs up. They are a tad pricey for a pair of denim shorts, but it’s all about quality versus quantity here. We all go through pairs of shorts in the summertime like no other, and I see this pair lasting multiple washes and wears. I say if you are looking for a hot pair of cut-off denim shorts, then look no further because J Brand has you covered. Not to mention, you have SIX colors to choose from!

P.S. 4th of July is right around the corner and I think these shorts would be perfect for my Independence Day ensemble, don’t you? Also, If you want to keep track of my daily outfits and musings, please check out my fashion blog HERE!

  1. Jen, IMO this low-rise styling looks so much better on you than the high-rise styling you displayed last week while wearing some regular jeans. Maybe the high-rise was too much of a reminder to me of the old-fashioned “mom jeans” look. The fact that they are short shorts in a bold color certainly adds to me liking them but even even aside from that, this low-rise look is just way more attractive.

    • Ditto, these shorts are hot, in terms of colour and style. Maybe it’s a guy thing, but shorter shorts definitely get my vote over high-waisted shorts any day.
