Hello lovelies! I’m back with another Rockstar Denim review, and this time I’m reviewing Rockstar Denim Cropped Welt Pocket Jean in Red. I was eager to try a new style with this brand because I was really pleased with the first pair I had the pleasure to review. They were super comfy, the color red (which I LOVE in denim), and just the right amount of edge. Plus the fit was perfection. This pair, however, only has a few pluses – 1.) They are red, 2.) The lack of distressing gives them a nice minimal look, and 3.) They are cropped (I love cropped denim and it’s a trend that is very IN right now).
I wasn’t too happy with the fit of this pair. The material is 98% cotton and 2% spandex, but the denim is a lot thinner than the previous pair. When you purchase thinner denim, you need to ensure you buy the right fit because it can give you the “stuffed sausage effect” if you buy a pair that’s too tight. The fit is not true to size with this pair, whereas the previous pair was very true to size. I would say if you are thinking about purchasing a pair of denim from this brand, you should definitely try on multiple styles and sizes to determine your best fit. The previous pair I reviewed was a size 27 (which is what I normally wear) and they fit great. I received a size 27 and 28 in this style and I chose the size 28 because it fit a lot better than the size 27. Even though I went up a size, I felt like the 28’s were still quite tight fitting and not very comfortable. I just didn’t feel like they flattered me as well as the previous style that I had reviewed from this brand.
Something I found to be quite unusual were the white marks that would appear on the jeans as I pulled them on. Not sure if it had anything to do with the slight sparkle effect that was in the wash of the jeans (something you cannot notice until you look closely at them), but it almost resembled baby powder or deodorant marks. You cannot really notice it in the photos, but I could visibly see the marks when I glanced down at the jeans while wearing them. Definitely not something you want to worry about when wearing denim.
All and all, I don’t want to say I’m not a fan of this brand because I was really pleased with the previous pair I reviewed. This style just didn’t hold a candle to the previous style. I am eager to try out new styles with this brand because I think Rockstar denim is fun and unique, but fit and comfort must come first in my book.
