What I absolutely love about summer is the ability to wear perfectly loose knit t-shirts and peep toe heels–with just about everything. Although it was a pretty blustery day when these photos were taken in London (the sun had been out only moments before) I still found I was completely comfortable in this ensemble, and have plans to recreate it now that summer is in full swing.
This week I am trying out a pair of J Brand Earhart in Vintage Marshall which are a modern update on the classic aviator trouser and with the military trend still going strong this season I think these could work great throughout the coming year. They’re just baggy enough to make the loose cut apparent (and not look like you’ve merely chosen an ill-fitting pair of cargos) and just fitted enough to ensure you don’t look like you’ve taken the trend to an extreme. They’re 100% cotton and super comfortable, I could imagine wearing them all day with no problems! The elastic zippered bottom hem allows for a couple of interesting styling options: you can roll them, cuff them or scrunch them as I did here. The waist band sits low on your hips without tension and the back flap pockets thankfully sit flat–no unnecessary bulk where you don’t want it!
Although I wouldn’t consider these appropriate for a formal occasion I would definitely wear them to a house party or summer barbecue, paired with a crop top, t shirt or a silk tank you couldn’t go wrong. Patterns would also compliment the muted green tone of these trousers, however I would recommend making sure your top is a bit more fitted to compliment the loose silhouette bellow.
Gwenyth Paltrow was snapped rocking this same style in gladiators and a grey T while Jessica Alba paired them with a patterned tank and scarf, both opting for casual summer looks. Clearly these fashion-forward celebs love this pair of Current/Elliot’s just as much as I do, (Paltrow was also seen wearing them with pumps and a sharp blazer) and have made it apparent that they really can transition from errands to events.
