“Fly-Free Jeans are a contemporary patent pending design adapted from a style of pants popular with men for centuries.” When I was contacted by this company to do a write up about them, my immediate reaction was: “Lederhose” – meaning the traditional century old Bavarian and Austrian leather pants (I am a native Austrian and grew up in Munich, Germany!), and when I said so to the owner of this company, he agreed with me and added that they were also inspired by the equestrian pants styles. Their customers, according to them, are cowboys and race car drivers, and now it seems to be catching on with young urban hipsters. The jeans come in selvedge and a dark blue wash and so far, are available only on their website for $128. They sent me a pair of these jeans to review and I am really impressed by the way they have paid attention to the details of the “Fly-Free”. The raw selvedge heavy denim which they are made of is known for adapting to your body after continuous use. The only thing I did not like very much about them is that they only have one style so far, and it is quite baggy. But this should be a big plus for those of you guys who are looking for comfort as well as “innovation” – or who just want to jump on a rodeo bull or hop into the cockpit of a race car!
