So the new major denim player on the block seems to be Black Orchid. I’ve been hearing so much about it lately and needed to figure out for myself what all the hype was about. I was fortunate enough to be able to stop by and check out their Fall 2011 line and learn a thing or two about the company, what they represent, and where this line is going in the future.
Black Orchid seems to me like one of those perfect storms. For some reason everything they have done from the choices of their washes, their denim, the trims, and the designs just all work together in such symmetry that you can’t explain it, but it just all creates a brand with staying power. There are no gimmicks, no bells and whistles. Just good quality denim. It has that inexplicable x-factor that doesn’t come along to often. It has a definite edge to it.
As for Fall what we will be seeing from Black Orchid are dark denim leggings, skinny boot-cuts, and jeggings all adorned with zipper detailing. Jeggings with vertical pleats, capri’s are making a comeback, nice gray denims and of course an array of flares, bell bottoms and wide legs in classic blue washes. I myself have a pair of the new high rise bell bottoms and the hand feel and fit could not be more comfortable or sleek. I’m definitely excited to see what’s next for Black Orchid!
