If you’re like me, suffering from slipping, sliding jeans while walking up subway steps or bending down to pet your dog in the middle of winter – and all this while you are snuggled in your puffiest down coat – you are in good company! Unfortunately. Yeah, it’s impossible to grab your jeans waistband and hike them back up again unless you’re ready to perform a semi strip tease (like opening your coat and lifting your sweater!)

Every year at this time, I develop the same hatred for my oh so beloved skinniest jeans that I had been wearing all summer long with no problem whatsoever. So, what do you do? There are several options, like don’t wear a coat and freeze your butt off, or go around only half frozen in a short jacket….OR ! yeah! Get the jeans with the right fit! Genius, isn’t it? 😉 You hadn’t thought about that before! But that’s ok. 🙂 There are lots of denim brands out there that have done the thinking for you. But before I show you some of them let me just give you one piece of advice: upsize! Yes, you NEED to upsize for a very simple reason: if your jeans are less tight, they are less prone to slip-sliding down because you have more “moving” space!

I have just learned that James Jeans has launched a new design, and by what I can tell, these should really “hold up 😉

You love your skinny JBrands? No problem: you can get an identical pair for winter, just that instead of the low waist you opt for mid waist. Visually there is almost no difference – but I guarantee you’ll FEEL the difference when you walk up those steps again!

Another option is the kind of jeans that are lower in front and higher in the back, like Doctrine’s skinnies, which I had the pleasure of test-driving just a few weeks ago, and they were amazing. They are not really high waisted, they sit just right at the waist, but they have a few darts on the back, just below the waistband. so these jeans actually follow your movements and don’t restrict them.

  1. How come James Jeans doesn’t have the wash Silver Spoon on its website? I only see Matte Black and Vesper.

  3. Do you know of a high-rise straight or flare jean that fits well on curvy figures? When I try on jeans according to waist measurement, I usually can’t get them up over my hips. I like the fit of Gap Curvy and Citizens jeans (Faye fits best on me), but the rise is fairly low in both of these. I don’t like super-skinny styles, as I prefer not to show every curve. Thanks for your help!

    •  COURTSHOP does a mean high waist. J Brand has high rise jeans that fit perfectly and they also have a mid rise which is pretty high. Paige does a high rise as well. Best is for you to check out these websites and there you can find them in the wash you like.
      Hope that helped:-)
