I can’t believe how incredibly frigid it’s been in London. Although I do remember being cold last year I can’t quite recall getting the feeling every limb was going to fall off each time I stepped out the front door. Luckily I’ve got a friend in town to share in my pain, and she kindly snapped these photos at lightning speed so I could throw on my massive jacket as quickly as possible. After these photos were taken we grabbed sushi, went shopping at the Portobello Market and ended the night at the cinema. My choice of a silk blouse, black bootie heels and the Diesel Highkee cropped high waisted black jeans (one of the styles from the new “Fit Your Attitude” collection) a perfect ensemble for the transition of day wear to night.
From the moment I tried these trousers on I knew they would become a favourite. They’ve got a throwback 1950’s feel with modern touches, such as the soft but structured fabric and the barely-there back pocket stitching in black. The signature Diesel logo remains on the front pocket but everything else about these jeans is kept simple and clean–just the way I like it. They have an extra high rise and hit just at the ankle, making them a perfect transition piece for spring and summer.
I found this particular style ran slightly big however. I’m typically a size 25 but in order to get a proper fitting waistband and slim enough legs I had to reach for a 24. The great part is in a size down they’re a perfect fit. The jeans hug but don’t suffocate, and after wearing them for a full day of walking and shopping noticed they hadn’t stretched out a bit.
I’ve also noticed that these jeans go with practically anything. Pair them with flats and your favourite t-shirt for running errands or a cropped sweater and heels for something a bit more dressed up. Given their simplicity and expert tailoring they really can transition for almost every scenario, which is something I’ve looked for in denim but haven’t quite found until now.
