Susan Style - Siwy Hannah in Varnish varnish16.jpg

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all off to a great start for the new year so far. Today’s review is on Siwy Hannah Coated Jeans. I like the idea of the whole leather and waxed denim trend, but I had yet to find a pair that was exactly what I was looking for. That is, until I found these. These are Siwy Hannah Coated Jeans. I’m definitely a fan of Siwy Jeans, particularly the Hannah style. So I already knew I’d like the cut on these jeans. I wasn’t sure about the coated look. But once I saw these in person, I fell in love.

I find that many of the other styles are either too waxy, too shiny, or too expensive (some of the leather skinnies are upwards of $800+). These are a wax coated style jean, but I like that they aren’t extremely waxy looking. They have a more subtle wax coated finish to them. And I like that they’re not as overly shiny as some of the other coated denim that I’ve seen around. The color is called Varnish which is a deep burgundy color.

These are a 5 pocket style. The rear pockets have Siwy’s signature quilted design. The rise measurement is 6 ยพ inches, leg opening is 10 inches, and the inseam is 28 inches. (Measurements may vary slightly among different sizes.) These have a more cropped fit, hitting well above my ankles which I really like. I prefer my skinnies to be more cropped or at least hit just at my ankles. I don’t like when my skinny jeans have too much bunching at the bottom hem. It’s a personal preference.

Made of 98% cotton and 2% elastin, these have some stretch to them and fit true to size comfortably. The waistband also has some stretch, so it doesn’t feel constricting as I find that some of the other Hannah styles do. I normally prefer my skinnies to fit pretty tight. But these aren’t super fitted, which I actually prefer with this style of coated denim.
Washing instructions are: dry clean only.

  1. Love the rich color of these jeans and I love that they fall above the ankle showcasing the slimmest part of the leg.ย  This creates a long and thin look…not that this model needs any help in that dept ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Great review!

  3. These look really nice on her. Love the color and she has a great figure. That person below Jane 1982 is just plain rude.

      • They do look awful! It’s nothing against the girl wearing them, shes precious, but these pants look horrendous on her. They look too big yet in one picture she has a mighty defined camel toe. If I wasn’t already familiar with Siwy, I would never buy a pair based solely on these pictures.

        • Excuse me, Susan! I’m not trying to be rude, though I’m sure it’s coming off that way. SUSAN HAS LOOKED GOOD IN EVERY OTHER JEAN I’VE SEEN HER REVIEW. My comment is geared towards the shock at the ill fit of the jeans themselves.

  4. I appreciate the comments.ย  Thank you, Parker, Song, Jackie, and even Jane-1982.ย  ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • ย Susan, I think the color is lovely. The issue with coated jeans is they tend to wrinkle thanks to the coating. One wash makes the jeans work better. I would presume these are brand new, no washes yet so that’s why they hold thew wrinkle still. The color is beautiful. Michelle Siwy knows how to make some solid jeans. ๐Ÿ™‚ Wonderful review!

      • And I want to add something: the times of skinny skinny super tight fits is OVER, GONE, so yesterday. I so believe that the slouchy look is THE look for now and this coming season. Well done, Susan, you are so in sync with fashion! And these jeans look awesome on you.
