Habitual is giving us another perfeclty executed collection for this coming fall. Check out their red coated skinnies with the zipper details. Those flare purple jeans shown below are certainly not your run of the mill style, either.
I was curious about Habitual and I asked them to give us some insight into this new collection.
Here is what Jennifer Wojinski, their design directors tells us exclusively for Denimology readers:
“The Fall 12 Collection was inspired by the Surrealist art movement, more specifically, the all female exhibit at LACMA entitled SURREALISM: ‘IN WONDERLAND’…the exhibit showed works, some never seen before, by Frida Kahlo, Leonora Carrington, Leonor Fini, Dorothea Tannin, Remedios Varo, Kay Sage, etc.
“I love the colors and moods reflected in the paintings and other works. There is also a certain pre-war ultra-feminine styling that I have translated to mean higher rises, body hugging silhouettes, super soft fabrics that have a more traditional weight to them, and a color palette that is gorgeous, dark, moody yet powerful and passionate, just as the artists and their works of the time were. I went so far as to have a fine artist create a surrealist symbolic graffiti print to fully reflect the inspiration in a modern print. It’s really all about being inspired by the Surrealist movement and creating language for Habitual.”
