Hey there loves! Today I’m reviewing my first pair of maternity jeans! I’ve never worn a pair, as this is my first pregnancy, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I think everyone cringes when they think of maternity jeans – ill fitting and that annoying (& ugly) belly band! Luckily Paige has come to my rescue with these Westbourne Jimmy Jimmy Skinny Jeans, and all my preconceived notions of maternity jeans have been thrown out the window!
I couldn’t wait to try on the maternity jeans that Paige sent me. If you’ve read my denim reviews, Paige is one of my absolute fave brands – they never disappoint. Plus, how cute did Natalie Portman and Alyson Hannigan look in their Paige maternity jeans? I was ready!
At first glance these jeans are almost identical to any other pair of boyfriend style non-maternity jeans. It wasn’t until I slipped them on that I discovered the built-in elastic waistband. It’s conveniently hidden inside the waistband itself. Therefore it isn’t visible at all except for the inner front panel of the jean, where the pull strings are fastened by a button on the right and left side (for adjusting purposes).
The comfort is amazing. Great stretch (92% cotton, 7% elasterell, 1% spandex to be exact), and I had zero discomfort in the waist area. I went with a size 28, but now I feel I probably would have been fine with my usual size 27. You see, I had no idea exactly what size I should be choosing when ordering maternity jeans, and I didn’t realize that women should always order their usual size (when ordering any maternity clothing), until after the jeans had arrived.
The jeans did not stretch out or become baggy, I just wonder if a size 27 would have felt snugger and been a better fit for me overall? I really cannot complain with the overall look and feel of these jeans though. I even had a few friends ask me how I was able to pull off regular jeans with my growing baby bump! They had no clue I had maternity jeans on, which was a plus for me!
I love the skinny, boyfriend style of these jeans – they’re slouchy but still have a clean tailored look to them. I paired these jeans with espadrilles for summer, but I know these jeans will transition well into the fall season with boots or even some chic pumps. I also thought the wash was perfect – a nice classic blue, and the 15″ rise and 31″ inseam was ideal. Overall I really love these jeans and I look forward to reviewing more maternity styles by Paige.
