G-Star RAW and renowned Japanese stylist Tomoki Sukezane have joined forces to share their passion for denim and craftsmanship on a unique denim design: the G-Star RAW and Sukezane Radar Limited Edition. For this collaboration, Sukezane provided a personal and modern interpretation of G-Star’s Radar denim silhouette by radically adjusting the fit into a unisex design, with an exaggerated tapered fit that is also wider at the waist, and use of unique embroidery for the stitching as well as custom back label. The G-Star RAW and Sukezane Radar Limited Edition is executed in a 13.0z Red Listing Berryl denim, woven on a vintage shuttle loom, and features an irregular warp slub and visible white weft.
So when I heard that edgy European brand G-Star joined forces with a Japanese stylist, my denim oriented mind like jumps to one conclusion: Whoa, we should be in for a treat! And I have to say, I am not disappointed after seeing these key pieces. It really does have the best of both worlds: the cut and class of Europe and the edge and vision of Japan. Too bad, this is only a limited edition, but then again, bravo to those of you who will actually manage to snag a pair of these jeans, you’ll be wearing something really special!
The G-Star RAW and Sukezane Radar Limited Edition will be available as of September 19th, 2012 at the world’s leading department stores in Paris (Galleries Lafayette) and London (Selfridges), the G-Star webstore and select US-based retailers like Atrium and American Rag.
