Leather pants have always been on my “wish list” but somehow buying them has never happened; probably because I couldn’t justify shelling out almost $1,000 for a pair. But now I can remove them from my list; not because I finally purchased them but because I found a great substitution – the 7 For All Mankind Skinny in High-Shine Leather-Like Orange.

First of all they really do look like leather, very sleek and smooth, and only after a good close-up look do you figure out that they are coated jeans. Coming in three bright hues (Orange, Pink and Cobalt) in addition to White and classic Black they are a cool and fun alternative to the real deal. Not to mention that the price of $189 is also much more attractive.

I love that the Skinny Fit was chosen for this particular style. Already hip and cool thanks to the fabrication, these jeans get even more attitude from the skintight silhouette; the longer inseam with substantial stacking and a fairly low rise also works to give them a bit more edge and elevate their overall style.

These jeans are made of “gummy” denim which is actually quite amazing. In combination with the skinny fit this very soft and stretchy blend of 98% cotton and 2% spandex with the added support of coating contours your body in quite a beautiful way. Look at my butt – how round and lifted it looks! In these jeans I almost have a crush on my own behind ☺

And as for sizing these skinnies seem to run pretty true to the size chart; my usual 24 fits me like a glove while still being very comfortable. But the first time I saw these jeans I thought that I would never be able to squeeze into them even with the help of soap – they looked like doll pants! But surprisingly, after getting through the narrow leg opening (the only challenging spot for me), I slipped into them with ease.

The 7 For All Mankind Skinny in High-Shine Leather-Like Orange is definitely one of the coolest pairs of jeans in my closet. Stylish and edgy they not only make your body look great but also make you feel like a real rock-star. I am so glad that I never bought real leather pants – these are so much better!

I am the EU contributor and product reviewer for Denimology. From the time I was 5 years old browsing through my first fashion magazine I knew I wanted to be in this industry. While working as a Merchandiser at Gloria Jeans, the largest denim manufacturer and retailer in Russia, I discovered my passion for denim. It fascinated me then and years later it fascinates me even more. Every day I learn and discover something new and exciting about denim and am thrilled to do it hand in hand with all of you!

  1. Why on earth would you have to spend $1000 on a pair of leather jeans, when you have affordable options at eBay? When the trend hit 2 years ago, I scored a pair of soft stretchy leather pants in black from Victoria’s Secret that look and fit exactly like this. I paid about $100. It’s not necessary to run up that kind of debt for a trend, when you should be saving your money or investing in your future.

    • You are right, Mary, nowadays there are so many options and choices of different brands and places where to buy clothes, so you don’t have to spend a fortune to be in trend. And these 7 FAM jeans is one of those fairly affordable ($189) substitutions for so “hot” now leather pants.
