Hey loves! I’m back with another maternity jean review and this time I’m reviewing a pair by one of my fave brands, Citizens of Humanity. They are the Citizens of Humanity Kelly Boot Cut Maternity Jeans.

I was really excited to review a pair of maternity jeans by Citizens of Humanity because I’m such a fan of the brand. Every pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans I’ve tried have been comfortable, had great fit, and have great style. I have to say that these maternity jeans were really no different.

When it comes to comfort, I’d say that these jeans are a 4 out of 5 stars. Mainly because I am wearing a size 28 and I feel a size 29 would have fit me a little better. These jeans fit me like a glove and although the belly band was comfortable, I did feel like the jeans were creeping down a tad in the back. The rise is 12″ (including the belly panel) and the inseam is 35″. I usually wear a size 27 or 28 (depending on the brand), but my hips have indeed grown due to pregnancy, so I think a size 29 would have given me a little more comfort. I do have to disclose that I did not wear these jeans an entire day, so perhaps they would have stretched out a bit and not felt so snug in the hip area? Overall I would recommend going a size up when ordering these jeans, unless you are always true to size.

The elastic belly panel is 90% nylon and 10% spandex. It’s thin and didn’t dig into my skin at all. The previous maternity jeans I reviewed on denimology were by Paige, and had a built-in elastic waist. This is my first time trying a pair of maternity jeans with an elastic belly panel and I was pleased. What’s nice about the panel is that you don’t have to worry about any skin peeking out because your belly is completely covered.

The jeans themselves are 98% cotton and 2% elastane – not much stretch, but I didn’t feel necessarily constricted in these jeans. I just feel going a size up would have given me a more comfortable fit overall. I’m currently 7 ยฝ months pregnant and I’m sure these would have fit less snug in the beginning of my pregnancy than they do on me now.

I love the wash of these jeans. I think it’s a perfect shade of blue. The blue is dark enough to give you a nice slimming effect, and versatile for dressing day to night. The back pockets have the signature “h” stitching on them, and there is a slight whiskering in the front.

Overall I was pleased with these jeans, but feel going a size up would have made the fit and comfort level perfection. The fit was not tight in the belly panel at all, just in the hip area. If you’re a fan of Citizens of Humanity jeans then you are going to love these jeans! They don’t look like a maternity jean at all, and the classic boot-cut means they’ll never go out of style!

  1. You look amazing in them! The last couple of months I had trouble wearing anything but dresses. That lil' lady bean wasn't so little of a bump. Ha!
