Powerful, extraordinary, extremely feminine and stunning. This is how I feel about this S/S 2013 collection by Marques/Almeida; a clothing line designed by Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida.
Marta and Paulo subscribe to the Helmut Lang school of thought, where “fashion is about attitude, not hemlines.” While their aesthetic evokes raw effortlessness, the pair’s technical sensibilities are revealed in the construction of each piece.
I am totally in love with the way they create the most amazing fashion denim pieces. Each and every single style is just fantastic. I feel that this is kind of denim haute couture.
About this collection:
“In the past they’ve distressed and dissected it [the denim], ripped and shredded it, dyed and grated it. Today, there is still that same sense of distress but it wandered down lighter territory.
These clothes are meant to be worn by awkward grunge girls who are growing up in the Nineties, rifling through old copies of The Face and pinning its pages to their bedroom walls. There’s an angst. Which is a trait fashion thrives on”.
