Created by some real denim people, denim gurus with years of experience, I am quite intrigued with this new brand, Calvin Rucker. I’ll be checking them out personally at Coterie this week and will keep you updated about the denim and the fit.
“Calvin Rucker – created by Caroline Calvin & Joie Rucker (two of the biggest denim experts) is a collection with some highlighted denim pieces, one being the LOVE ME boyfriend jean that is currently in its second cut as it sold out the first time around. The Love Me is made in LA and production is in small units for exclusivity purposes with the finish being hand treated, as Caroline would say, “super old skool!”
About Caroline Calvin:
Caroline Calvin learned the art of denim finishing as a designer at François and Marithé Girbaud in the late 1980s. Calvin then rose to Senior Vice President of Global Design for the largest denim brand in the world, LEVI’S®, overseeing creative design direction across all consumer product categories and price points. While at LEVI’S®, Calvin led the European design team, and drove the re invigoration and growth of the brand in Europe. She eventually returned to the States to spearhead the effort to turn LEVI’S® into a design driven company, with innovations such as the launch of the LEVI’S® Vintage Clothing Line and XXX, and other key product strategies.
About Joie Rucker:
Joie Rucker was lured south to Los Angeles in 1997 where she was hired as Vice President of Design and Product Development for Guess, Inc., driving a major expansion in sales for that company, and becoming a fashion industry leader, playing an integral role in the explosive growth of the high-end denim market. Rucker left Guess in 2001 to launch not one, but two successful brands, the eponymous Joie in 2001, and in 2006, the trendsetting Rich & Skinny, both of which continue to thrive as profitable, global brands.
