Hey lovelies! I’m back from a short hiatus! If you don’t follow my personal blog, Belle de Couture, then you probably aren’t aware that I gave birth to a sweet baby girl, on December 6, 2012. My body definitely went through some changes, good and bad, but now it’s been 4 months and I’m almost back to my pre-prego bod. Yeah!
Today I’m reviewing James Jeans Twiggy Skinny Legging in Nude Python. James Jeans is definitely one of my fave denim brands. I own quite a few pairs and each pair does not disappoint. This is my first printed pair by James Jeans, and I have to say I’m in love.
I’ve always been a fan of printed denim – especially animal and floral prints. This snakeskin print is different from other snakeskin prints out there because it’s a beautiful nude hue. The neutral color makes it incredibly versatile when styling outfits. You might be asking yourself, “snakeskin, versatile?” And I say, “of course!” Animal prints are the new black in my opinion, and they go with everything! This snakeskin print is nude in color, which means it will match a variety of shirts and tops. Mixing prints is always fun, but if you are not as darling as I am, then a classic denim or chambray shirt always makes for a great pairing with printed denim. This snakeskin print also has a slight sheen to it –it’s quite pretty.
Now, let’s move on to the fit of these jeans. Let me start by saying that before I had my daughter I was wearing a size 27 in most styles. Right now I’m wearing a size 28 and 29 (depending on the brand). I chose to try out a size 28 and a size 29 in this pair, to ensure I had a great fit. Although the size 29’s did fit comfortably, I knew they would most likely stretch out a bit, so I ended up sticking with the size 28. This jean is 98% cotton and 2% lycra, giving this jean great stretch. The size 28 was a tad snug at first, but definitely not constricting. The jeans did stretch out a tad throughout a day’s wear, but I don’t think it was really noticeable in the photos. I think the fit was great, and the jeans were very comfortable. I’m 5’10, so the 29-30″ inseam was perfect for me. I love a pair of skinny jeans that hit right at the ankle or slightly above. I cannot stand when skinny jeans bunch up at the ankles.
The front rise is 8.75″, the back rise is 13″, and the hem opening at the ankles is 10.” All of which I was pleased with. The overall fit was pleasing, and I didn’t have to worry about pulling the jeans up in the back, which sometimes happens to me with jeans. These jeans are leggings, so the front pockets are faux – which is understandable. Leggings should be body hugging and not bulky, so real pockets would affect the clean lines of this style.
Overall I have to say these jeans are a must for any gal’s closet. As I said above, their neutral hue makes them quite versatile, yet their fun snakeskin print makes them anything but boring. The body skimming fit is perfection, and being that it’s a legging, this jean would look great with longer tops as well. If you’re after a pair of printed denim that will stretch your dollar and give you plenty of outfit options, then these jeans are for you!
So, what do you think about printed denim? Are you fan? How would you style these jeans if you were wearing them?
