Black Orchid won my heart over about 6 years ago when I was living back in Russia. In one of my favorite boutiques I found the coolest denim dress that I just had to have in spite of the hefty price tag. That was my very first Black Orchid piece and believe it or not I still have it today 🙂 I probably will never have the guts to get rid of that dress because it is so amazing even after all these years! The Motorcycle Legging in After Dark is also one of those styles that will always be in trend and of course is super “hot” right now.

These skinnies have A LOT working for them! The Black Orchid designers really embraced the moto motif not only in the silhouette itself but also in the materials they used. The combination of crackled leather-like and faux-suede fabrics looks very rich and chic and enhances the overall style of this pant so well. The tonal hardware and zippers don’t weigh down the already intricate and complicated design but instead complement it. And of course what color is better than black for a pant like this?! But, by the way, if you are feeling the warmer, softer hues this Fall these skinnies also come in a beautiful camel and chocolate too.

The fit of these leggings is pretty amazing! Featuring a medium 9″ rise they flatter the stomach masking any pooch and create a higher and visually smaller waist line. The stitched back yoke and side panels along with the longer rise give your butt a great lift and make it perfectly round. The pieced detailing on the front and back of the pants makes the already slimming Skinny silhouette even better by optically cutting off a few inches. The narrow leg opening and ankle length inseam maintain a clean, streamlined look.

The fabric of these Moto leggings is a 90% polyester and 10% elastane knit blend which is very stretchy. The pants seemed tiny when I first got them but in fact were just right; thanks to the fabric’s great elasticity they simply glide on to your body and feel like a second skin. This fabric also has fantastic recovery so they won’t lose their shape even considering the snug legging fit.

When I got these pants I noticed the black “Caution” label right away; it warned that the use of rich dyes can cause “bleeding” on other garments and objects. And these leggings do “bleed”, in fact quite a lot. Don’t wear light-colored tops and shoes with them for at least the first few times in order to allow some of the excess dye to come off – after that they should be all better.

You guys won’t believe how many compliments I received on the first night I wore the Black Orchid Motorcycle Legging! For me that’s one of the best indications that they are definitely worth the splurge 🙂 Besides, considering the complex design and luxe-looking fabrics I think $174 is a very fair price!

The Black Orchid Motorcycle Legging in After Dark is available online.

I am the EU contributor and product reviewer for Denimology. From the time I was 5 years old browsing through my first fashion magazine I knew I wanted to be in this industry. While working as a Merchandiser at Gloria Jeans, the largest denim manufacturer and retailer in Russia, I discovered my passion for denim. It fascinated me then and years later it fascinates me even more. Every day I learn and discover something new and exciting about denim and am thrilled to do it hand in hand with all of you!
