Do you guys remember the signature Thigh-High Twiggy by James Jeans from their S/S’13 collection (there were a couple of posts about them here on Denimology)? I bet you do, they’re hard to forget! I thought they were the coolest and couldn’t believe I didn’t have them! This Fall James Jeans came out with a new, updated version of the Thigh-High Twiggy called the Dietrich and I’m lucky enough to review them!
Who thought it’d be possible but the Dietrich is even better than the original design! They really took it to a whole new level by using jeather and also detaching the upper portion of the “thigh-high” part. These “tricks” create the very realistic illusion of a tall leather boot worn over the jean and that is SUPER HOT! I also love the addition of the two side zippers on the top which are fully functional. So if you prefer to have them only half-way closed you can do that too. The whole idea is just so fresh and unique!
I’ve had Twiggy’s before and I really like the fit. These jeans are very flattering and make you look and feel great 🙂 The medium 8.75″ front rise combined with a higher 13″ back rise does a really nice job of flattening your stomach and the signature darted pockets help to create a round behind. I was pleased to see that the sewn-on “thigh-high” detail didn’t cause any discomfort or even worse a “stuffed sausage” look; James Jeans was able to avoid the extra tension from the seaming above the knee. To ensure the best fit just pull up the “boot” part high enough around your entire thigh paying particular attention to the back.
The denim of these skinnies is a seasonally appropriate medium weight (9.5 oz.) blend of 97% cotton and 3% lycra. It is quite stretchy and feels very soft and comfy. The jeather part also has a good amount of elasticity which helps to successfully “marry” both materials. Additionally it guarantees a nice recovery and helps avoid stretched-out, bubbly knees. After all, this jeather looks pretty authentic; hard to believe it’s just coated denim!
I was very nervous about getting the Dietrich without trying them on first mostly because of the “thigh-high” part. But once again James Jeans proved that their sizing is dead on regardless of the style’s complexity and my regular 24 fit just right.
The James Jeans Dietrich in Noir Black Jeather is a special pair of jeans that will instantly make you the center of attention. Very bold, edgy and risqué they are a true fashion statement. I am thrilled to have them as a part of my wardrobe and can’t wait to wear them more!
