JOE’S JEANS Button-Up Pencil Skirt in Cali - front view

Spring and summer are super close and with them comes the promise of bright sun, blue sky and warm air. While a pair of jeans is always a nice choice for any season nothing can beat a great skirt on a hot, sunny day and the [search]JOE’S JEANS[/search] Button-Up Pencil Skirt in Cali is the perfect choice 🙂

This piece is from the Vintage Reserve line and is one of my absolute favorite’s from Joe’s Spring ’14 Collection. The Cali wash is just awesome! The medium to light faded denim with aggressively destroyed areas appears to be naturally worn-in and the beige yarn of the frayed holes looks authentically aged and yellowed under the sun. However, the classy pencil silhouette balances out the intense distressing so that it doesn’t come across as messy or too much. The button fly with rugged brass hardware and sexy triangle front slit in the center complete the look and pull everything together into a cohesive fusion of pure femininity and bold, edgy style.

This is my very first Joe’s Jeans skirt and I love how it fits. This version of a classic pencil shape features a higher medium rise with the waistband hitting about two fingers below the belly button which is not only very flattering but also perfect for wearing with the currently in-trend cropped top. The above the knee length is also very forgiving and will suit pretty much any body type and height. I also love the original triangle shape of the front slit that shows off just a bit more leg than the usual straight one and therefore visually makes them longer and leaner.

This skirt is made out of 100% cotton. The denim is quite “beefy” while surprisingly soft considering that it is rigid. It is still very comfortable despite the lack of spandex and although the skirt is pretty slim it is roomier that it seems and the front slit makes sure you won’t feel constricted while walking. Please note that none of the holes (not even higher-up ones 🙂 ) have backing which makes this garment somewhat fragile and therefore dry cleaning is recommended. If you are totally not feeling dry cleaning a gentle hand wash will also do the trick.

I got this skirt in my regular size 24 and am very satisfied with how it fits so don’t hesitate to order your usual size if don’t have a chance to try it on in the store.

I am very excited about the JOE’S JEANS Button-Up Pencil Skirt in Cali! I actually didn’t have anything like this in my wardrobe before and now I realize that was clearly a big miss. From the super cool wash (I am obsessed with such massive distressing!!!) to the originality of the design, this piece is perfect for today’s fashion while also give you the chance to show off your individual style; it is simply RAD!

I am the EU contributor and product reviewer for Denimology. From the time I was 5 years old browsing through my first fashion magazine I knew I wanted to be in this industry. While working as a Merchandiser at Gloria Jeans, the largest denim manufacturer and retailer in Russia, I discovered my passion for denim. It fascinated me then and years later it fascinates me even more. Every day I learn and discover something new and exciting about denim and am thrilled to do it hand in hand with all of you!
