Black Orchid Skinny Overall in Die Another Day Top Photo Full Front Hand in Pockets
I am all for a great pair of overalls, so I’m stoked to see that they are one of the hottest trends right now. Overalls are a classic staple ever gal should own. They’re not only comfortable, but they can allow you to look stylish and put together without having to try so hard. Don’t you just love it when you step inside your closet and are able to pick out a great outfit in a matter of seconds? Overalls will help you do that. Whether you wear them with flats or heels, a crop top or vintage tee, this trend is without a doubt effortless chic. These Black Orchid Skinny Overalls in Die Another Day are my new fave overalls, and let me tell you why.
Most overalls have wider legs, making it really hard to look polished when you’re trying to doll them up for drinks with your girlfriends or dinner with your beau. That’s where Black Orchid saves the day — skinny legs!! These overalls combine what we love most about skinny jeans — body hugging denim that shows off our curves — with an overall style. The cropped inseam (27 inches to be exact) is another reason why I love these overalls. A cropped skinny jean looks so good with just about any shoe you wear. It really gives off that Parisian chic look we all crave, and when you pair it with a hot pair of heels or sandals you’ll look like you just stepped off the runway.
I chose to style these overalls casually, as I was running errands around town with my husband and daughter. I chose a fun pair of flat crochet sandals, this season’s fave top: the crop top, and a functional, but oh-so-stylish handbag. If I were dressing these overalls up for an evening out, I would swap my flats for a pair of fun heels (perhaps a gladiator pair? — Another hot trend!) and a lace or eyelet top. I also love to throw a blazer or moto jacket over a pair of overalls. The possibilities are really endless when it comes to styling.
These overalls are made of 92% cotton, 7% polyester, and 1% spandex — giving them great stretch! Black Orchid tends to run big, so usually I suggest sizing down. However, I went with my typical size 27 and I felt these overalls fit me just fine. They did stretch out a tad, but I feel a pair of overalls (even with a skinny leg like these) shouldn’t be too tight. Although, if you choose to wear these overalls with the straps down, you may find that you have to pull them up here and there, as I did earlier this week (they did creep down my hips a bit as they stretched out). Even though they did this, I still feel that the size 27 is best for me. You may find you want the legs to be tighter, so then I suggest going one size down. It’s all about personal preference.
These overalls have a nice medium blue wash with fading throughout. I love the distressing on the front of the thighs.  Sometimes distressing can look too deliberate on a pair of jeans and can cheapen the look, but I feel this distressing gave these overalls a bit of edge and still looked natural.
The straps on these overalls are easily adjustable. There’s a large front pocket, front slit pockets on the side, and back patch pockets on the bum. These overalls have a side zipper closure, which I thought was really cool. Most overalls button on either side of the hips. There is a button above the zipper to ensure that the overalls fit snug on your hips.
I really can’t say enough good things about these overalls. They are really awesome and I’m eager to style them in as many different ways as I can. I really feel they are a denim staple that I will wear year round. I think if you love the overall trend, then these are definitely for you. Perhaps you’ve been wanting to try the trend, but you are nervous about looking “frumpy”? These skinny legs will solve that issue for you. If you’re a Mom or if you travel a lot, I think these are a perfect new addition to your closet. As I said above, they are the perfect solution to those days when you don’t know what to wear. They give you a stylish, pulled together look with an effortless feel. Two thumbs up to Black Orchid for designing a super chic pair of overalls that you can live in!
