Spring is fast approaching and Joe’s Jeans newest spring arrivals are making me swoon. Some of my faves include their L’Ete Romper, Military Shirtall, and their Mix-Match Suit Jacket with matching Tulip Trouser Short. This Eyelet Pullover that I’m wearing was an instant fave for me and I couldn’t resist the Petite Skinny. I’m a girl that’s always drawn to denim with details — zippers, a great print, a flared leg, etc. I constantly have to remind myself that a good, classic jean is what I’ll get the most wear out of and sometimes I find it hard to find that one pair of skinny jeans that fits me just right and has the perfect wash. I’m sure y’all can relate, right? Well, I think I found that pair of skinnies with these Petite Skinny jeans in Rikki by Joe’s Jeans.
I was first drawn to these jeans because the style looked very classic to me, and I have to say once I tried them on the style was just that. The description of this style on the Joe’s Jeans website mentions that it “caters to a smaller build”. Which worried me at first because I wasn’t sure if this style would look cropped on me. I don’t mind a cropped style, but I was hoping this style would look the same on me as it did on the model. I lucked out because I’m 5’10 and the 30″ inseam worked out perfectly for me. This style has an 8″ rise, making it a mid-rise jean which I’ve mentioned in my previous reviews that it’s a style I’ve been reaching for more often than not. A mid-rise jean definitely gives off a more sophisticated look than a low or high rise style.
This jean is comprised of 10.5 oz of stretch — 92% Cotton, 6% Polyester, and 2% Elastane. These jeans slipped on with ease and felt so comfortable that I was worried that they would stretch out after a day’s wear. I ended up lucking out again because they didn’t stretch out one bit. They hugged my every curve, but still managed to give me the flattering and sophisticated look that I was craving. I’m wearing a size 27 in this jean, which is my typical size for Joe’s Jeans and for most denim brands and styles.
The wash might just be my favorite part of these jeans. These jeans are stone washed to a dark blue cast, and have fading in all the right places. There’s slight whiskering around the front pockets as well. I love the vintage-inspired gold thread because I feel it just adds to the classic and timeless appeal. What I thought was really cool about this style is that it features a busted side seam finished with a new overlock technique that resembles a selvedge edge. If you look closely at the ankles of these jeans they don’t resemble your typical skinny jean. The denim isn’t hugging the ankles. The selvedge look gives off a more relaxed ankle, but not too relaxed that the style resembles a boot-cut jean. I think it adds a nice twist to this classic skinny style.
What I also loved about these jeans is the back pockets. The curved thread design on the pockets act as an illusion that gives off the look of a lifted behind. I think all the ladies can agree with me that if you try on a pair of denim it has to look fab in the rear, or they just aren’t coming home with you.
Now I’ll move on to this Eyelet Pullover. Doesn’t this beauty just scream spring, y’all?? I am just in love with the fresh look of it and I received a ton of compliments the day I wore it. I love that, just like the skinny jeans, it has a classic appearance with a modern twist. To give this classic top a more modern feel they made the back fabric a few inches longer than the front. I especially love this part of the top because I have a long torso and I cannot stand when a top, that isn’t meant to be cropped, looks too short on my long frame. I love that the fabric is made of a heavy, terry cloth which makes it look and feel expensive and allows you to not feel exposed even though there are holes throughout. It has a nice relaxed feel to it, but still looks chic and put together. I wore this top with Fashion Forms Ultra-Light Nude bra that actually sticks to your skin and is backless.
I loved my entire outfit and I know I’ll be wearing both this top and these jeans constantly this spring and summer. The jeans I’ll be wearing throughout the year because their style is classic and timeless. I love how Joe’s Jeans always manages to design pieces that are classic with a modern edge. That means you know you’re buying a piece that is worth the price because you’ll get a ton of wear out of it. This was the first time I’ve ever tried a piece of Joe’s Jeans clothing (I have only worn their denim until now), and I have to say I’m an instant fan. The quality is amazing, the style was comfortable, and I felt super cute while wearing this look.
If you’re looking for a skinny jean that will go with anything in your closet, the Joe’s Jeans Petite Skinny in Rikki is the perfect pair ladies. The rise and fit will give you a classic look and the wash and selvedge edge will offer the modern twist for that on-trend look you’re after.
