Hey guys! I’m back with another denim review and this time I’m reviewing the Joe’s Jeans Straight Leg Classic in Andres. This jean is part of their Vintage Reserve Collection. You might have seen my last Joe’s Jeans review HERE where I reviewed their Vintage Reserve Brixton Straight & Narrow jean. That jean was a straight leg jean with a slimmer leg. The jean I’m reviewing today is definitely more of a classic straight leg.
What I really loved about this jean is the relaxed fit. I’ve tried a lot of straight leg jeans and most of the time they can lack room in the crotch area. I liked how roomy this pair felt, yet it still had a refined look. It didn’t give off a baggy look. This jean is comprised of 100% cotton, so it doesn’t have any stretch. However, I didn’t notice the lack of stretch when wearing them. They were quite comfortable.
I’m 6’4 and 195 lbs and I’m wearing a size 34. The inseam on this jean is 34″, which happens to be the inseam I go for when purchasing jeans. I thought the length was perfect. The ankles of this jean are not as fitted as I felt that they were in the straight and narrow style of the Brixton that I last reviewed. These ankles are slightly relaxed and rest nicely on top of your shoes. I prefer this look more than the slimmer style. Perhaps it’s because it’s a style I’m most used to? I’m still warming up to the slimmer legs. I haven’t dove into the skinny jean style just yet.
I really love dark washes in denim more than a medium-blue or light-blue wash, so I loved this wash at first glance. I always feel a darker washed jean looks more put together and expensive than a lighter washed jean. It’s a rich dark indigo hue that has whiskering on the top part of the jean, as well as the bottom of the jean from the knee down. Joe’s calls this an “uneven, subtle dye wash effect”. I really liked this effect and felt it added character to a classic pair of jeans. It definitely plays into the vintage effect, and it’s a detail that separates this jean from other classic straight leg jeans on the market.
Joe’s mentions on their website that this jean has “a fit that’s versatile for a look that’s rugged or refined”. I don’t think I can say it any better than they did. This style is versatile enough to wear for day or night. It has a relaxed and rugged appeal, yet the look is still polished. This just might be my favorite pair of Joe’s Jeans yet!
If you’re looking for a classic straight leg jean, or you are tired of wearing the baggy boot-cut jeans, then you definitely need to branch out and try this Joe’s Jeans Straight Leg Classic in Andres! I really feel that this style is a style any guy would reach for multiple times throughout the week. It’s comfortable, looks good, and has unique details that separates it from other classic straight legs out there.
