McGuire Denim Majorelle Flare in Revel Revel Front Top

I’ve been reviewing denim on Denimology.com for three years now (wow, time flies), and if there’s one style that I would have to say is my absolute fave it would be the flare or bell bottom jean. I often think I was born in the wrong era because I’m most drawn to clothing from the 60’s or 70’s. That’s definitely why I love wearing vintage clothing so much. It takes you back to an era and makes you wonder, who wore the piece before you and how did they style it? That’s exactly how I felt when I tried on the McGuire Denim Majorelle Flare in Revel Revel. No, these jeans aren’t vintage, but the look and feel of them felt like a great pair of vintage denim from the 70’s.

McGuire Denim is a new brand for me that I couldn’t wait to review. McGuire Denim is made in Los Angeles and is dedicated to creating cool, off-duty denim for the modern woman. They transform vintage silhouettes into wearable denim with an edgy chic vibe. I love that about them because I am such a vintage lover and have so much appreciation for great vintage styles.

I’m 5’10 and have long legs, and I’ve said before in my reviews how much I love a pair of high-waisted denim. It breaks up my proportions (I have a long torso too — well, long everything), and it makes my long legs look even longer. Hey, you gotta play up your best assets, right? These jeans have a 9″ rise which is perfect. I think flared jeans look best when they have a higher rise. Some people don’t like a higher rise on a flare because they feel it gives off a more retro look, but that’s what I love most.

These jeans have amazing stretch to them. They are comprised of 65% cotton, 33% lyocell, and 2% elastane. The denim is thin, which I prefer for a style like this. It’s a high-waisted style with a long inseam (35″ to be exact), so thinner denim doesn’t feel heavy and makes it perfect for spring and summer dressing. I also feel thinner denim hugs the curves more easily and feels less restrictive.

I love the wash of this denim. It’s a nice medium blue with intentional fading throughout and light whiskering at the pockets. The back pockets have light “X”s on them. I thought the three centered belt loops in the back of the jean added to the vintage feel. These jeans reminded me so much of a a great vintage pair of denim I would find at a thrift store, yet they felt so modern and had a perfect fit. The hem has a raw cut to it, which I really loved. I’m seeing raw cut hems in all styles of denim lately and I thought it really upped the cool factor in these jeans.

I’m wearing a size 27 in these jeans, even though lately I’m fitting into 26’s. I didn’t try a size 26 in this style, so I’m not sure if it would’ve been a better fit for me. However, I wore these an entire weekend and they didn’t lose their fit or shape. I received a ton of compliments while wearing them (and even on a recent style post on my blog). They hugged my curves and made me feel chic and sexy.

McGuire Denim really is the best of both worlds. They combine vintage and modern details to create cool denim that makes you feel sexy and stylish. I really felt that I had legs for days in these McGuire Denim Majorelle Flares, and I can’t stop wearing them with crop tops. Their fabric is super soft and comfortable to wear. I really can’t get enough of these jeans. If you’re on the hunt for the perfect flare that will be a staple in your closet, this is the pair you should go for.

You can purchase these jeans at RevolveClothing, Piperlime, and Anthropologie. They are also available in a darker wash (called “Confessional”) at Singer22 and RevolveClothing.
