Each year, AAFA (American Apparel and Footwear Association} promotes educational events, programs, seminars, and webinars related to every aspect of the apparel and footwear industry.
This year I had the great pleasure of being invited to their really awesome awards event. Awesome not only because of the “winners”, but because there were very special guests there, as well:
This year, the charity event was about supporting the SPECIAL OLYMPICS, WHOSE MISSION IS TO PROVIDE YEAR-ROUND SPORTS TRAINING AND ATHLETIC COMPETITION TO CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES, PROMOTING PHYSICAL FITNESS, COURAGE, JOY AND A SHARING OF GIFTS, SKILLS AND FRIENDSHIP. The event started with these very special kids and young adults standing on the stage and singing The Star-Spangled Banner. It was really quite emotional.
Among the winners was DL1961, elected best denim brand of the year. You can see Sarah and Zahra Ahmed below, owners and founders of the DL1961 brand, giving their acceptance speech.
We Denimologists are of course thrilled for DL1961 and high five their continuous efforts to give us better and cooler denim all the time. Congrats from all of us @Denimology and, of course, I am sure I can speak for our readers as well! KUDOS to Sarah and Zahra! 🙂
