I am a girl that loves skinny jeans with ankle zippers. I think it’s super chic and adds that bit of edge to liven up any look. That’s why when I received this Etienne Marcel Skinny With Side Zip in Javel to review I was totally smitten. Not only does it have ankle zippers, but they are gold with a bright red accent trim! Just genius! If you haven’t heard of Etienne Marcel denim, they are based in Los Angeles and their denim is the perfect mix of chic & edge.
Lately, I’m more drawn to lighter washes. Perhaps it’s the fact that spring is officially upon us, or maybe it’s because I’m growing tired of all my darker washes? Whatever the case may be, I adore this lighter wash in this jean. It’s such a pretty light sky blue with fading throughout. Really a great wash for spring and summer. It’s fun and fresh and gives off a beachy, laid back vibe.
I’m not sure what the rise is on this jean (I’d say approximately 8″), but based on how these jeans fit on my body I would say it’s a lower rise. I’m wearing a size 26 in most denim styles right now, but this style happens to be a size 27. I think this style fit me perfectly, so since the 27 fit me just fine these jeans might run small. I would recommend going one size up, or buying your current size and a size up if you’re able. The inseam is approximately 29″, which I thought was perfect. I love skinny jeans that hit right at the ankles.
The denim is comprised of 92.5% cotton, 5% polyester, and 2.5% elastane. They had great stretch and held their fit the entire day of wear. These jeans were also very comfortable. They felt like a second skin, but didn’t constrict me in any way.
I received so many compliments on these jeans. Everyone just loved the bright red accented zippers! I also love that this jean has a minimal logo (a simple capital “E” and “M” in white on the back waistband). Above the logo is three stitches of red, white, and blue on a belt loop — another simple touch that I really liked.
Overall, I would say that these jeans are really fabulous. They might seem plain or average at first glance, but Etienne Marcel’s attention to detail makes them anything but. They are unique and fit great! I am loving the other styles I’m seeing on the Etienne Marcel’s website, and I’m very eager to see where this brand goes. I think they are a force to be reckoned with!
