7 For All Mankind Sportif Crop Jeans in Black & White - front view
The athletic trend is arguably the hottest fashion thing right now and I am one of those peeps that dove fully in 🙂 From all kinds of sweatshirts and mesh tees to perforated leather tops/shorts/shoes/bags – you name it, I have it. Of course the list isn’t complete without a pair of pants and the 7 For All Mankind Sportif Coated Chino from their Fall’13 Collection completed it for me. It became a favorite piece in my closet that I wore a lot here in LA and packed for every vacation. This Summer the brand came up with the Sportif Crop Jean which is very different from previous styles and absolutely AWESOME!

Typically a sporty jean is achieved by combining a slightly slouchy silhouette with a smocked/elastic hem and the occasional addition of a drawstring waistband. This time 7FAM took an absolutely different route by not using any of these attributes and went with a more athletic than lounge-y approach. This new Sportif Crop features a rounded hem (kind of like in running gear) and contrast trim on the cuffs, sides and pockets. The waistband, with a concealed hook-and-eye closure, is also done in white and pulls the whole color-block together. I love the B&W combo which looks absolutely striking in these pants, however, if you are feeling something more subdued, the Olive and Black colorway is also available.

The Sportif Crop is a slim pant that fits close to the body and is basically a borderline skinny. However it has just enough room through the leg and thigh to complement the athletic vibe of the jean. The trouser construction flat waistband and slash front pockets eliminate any possible bulk and nicely flatter the midsection. The contrast trim itself has a slimming effect by visually removing a cm or two off the sides. The inseam is 27” and with my 5’7” height the hem hits quite high above the ankle. Such length is ideal for this style of pants and will work great with a variety of shoes from classic heels to high-top sneakers.

These jeans are made of a light-weight coated denim, a.k.a “jeather”. With the content of 74% cotton, 24% nylon and 2% spandex the fabric is very soft and stretchy regardless of the coated finish. Also, I like this choice of material because of its characteristic subtle sheen which is very typical in athletic clothing.

The jeans I got are in my regular size and couldn’t fit any better. So theoretically your typical size should work for you too. However if it happens that you need a different one 7forallmankind.com will exchange it for no additional charge. Pretty sweet, right?

I actually can’t even tell you how excited I am about these 7 For All Mankind Sportif Crop Jeans in Black & White – they are simply AWESOME! Give them a shot and you’ll love them too, I guarantee it!

I am the EU contributor and product reviewer for Denimology. From the time I was 5 years old browsing through my first fashion magazine I knew I wanted to be in this industry. While working as a Merchandiser at Gloria Jeans, the largest denim manufacturer and retailer in Russia, I discovered my passion for denim. It fascinated me then and years later it fascinates me even more. Every day I learn and discover something new and exciting about denim and am thrilled to do it hand in hand with all of you!
