Levi's® The 535 Leggings in Night Out
Another review of San Francisco’s go-to denim brand today, with photos from The Bay, Levi’s® home turf! For my Levi’s® The 535 Leggings in Night Out review, I had to shoot some photos with the SF skyline in the background – an ode to this awesome city (and denim capital!).

After our month of Levi’s here at Denimology, you’ve seen a lot of different fits and styles featured from the brand. I’ve covered their iconic pieces like the Authentic Trucker denim jacket and their cult favorite, the 501 straight leg. Today, I’m reviewing a more updated and trend focused fit, with the 535 Leggings. These leggings feature an 8” rise, and a skinny 9.5” leg opening at the ankle. They are also available in 3 different inseams – a feature available on Levi.com which can save you a pretty penny on tailoring (and save the gazelles among us from chilly ankles).

The wash I’m wearing is called the Night Out wash, which is a very dark indigo. Up close, the denim is woven with white, giving you a slight streaked effect through the fabric. This makes the jeans a bit more casual than your usual dark wash skinnies, as does the contrast stitching across the front & back pockets and yoke. Personally, I prefer dark wash skinnies and leggings to have tonal stitching to make them more formal, but if you’re looking for something dark with a more casual look to them, these would be a good every day option.

In terms of sizing, be cautious if you are ordering online. Usually I opt for true-to-size, or a size down for leggings so they stay super slim. However, for these jeans I went two sizes up in the waist from my usual size. This made the waist more comfortable but going up two sizes also made the leg opening fit less like a legging fit, and more like a slouchy skinny or slim leg.

For this look, I paired the Levi’s® The 535 Leggings in Night Out with a draped sweater from Helmut Lang, leather jacket, and classic Frye moto boots for a casual but edgy look.

  1. Love the dark wash skinnies! We really like how you pointed out the white in the weave, which gives it that more casual feel when compared to a traditional dark wash denim! That’s such a great detail that we are glad they put to good use!
