I received my skinnies in a neatly packed box with the invoice and Fedex return shipping label included just like any customer will in case something doesn’t work out (the return policy here is very easy and risk-free). But honestly there was no way I was returning them – these jeans are truly great! The dark Soul-Mate wash with somewhat intense handsanding and whiskering has a distinct authentic vibe about it and toes the line between rugged and pretty. It has that “cool factor” that we want from our denim as well as subdued versatility that can sometimes be compromised with more extreme finishes. I also really like the faux-flap back pockets that add just a touch of complexity to this style.
These jeans are 100% made in the US. Designed in Portland using North Carolina’s Cone Mills White Oak denim and Kentucky’s YKK buttons, rivets and zippers they are cut, sewn and washed in Los Angeles. The company is understandably proud of this fact and incorporates it throughout the design of their jeans. The red, white and blue ribbon loop inside of the waistband and “USA Made” on the back of every single piece of hardware is a great way to stress the 100% made-in-America concept. I was also very impressed how personal these jeans are – in so many details from your own “name tag” to the quality control person’s name on the pocket lining you can feel the passion and appreciation for denim craftsmanship.
I really like the fit of these skinnies, it is well balanced and thought out. For example, their low rise is more on a medium side and while being cheeky and sexy it provides enough coverage to flatter your body. The waistband is contoured and perfectly follows the curves of your shape. The tush also looks pretty “hot” in these pants J The only con for me is that the 12” leg opening is too wide for my taste, especially with a 32” (Regular) inseam. In a skinny I personally prefer 10”/30” combo or at least 10”/32” to avoid bulk at the bottom and keep the silhouette clean. The easy fix in this case is either length alteration or simply cuffing the jeans which is what I did.
I received these Low-Rise Skinnies in my usual 24 and they fit perfectly – snug enough while still so comfortable! So it seems that Bluer has their sizing figured out and that it is quite accurate. However even if you are not sure about what size or fit is best for you their “Home Try-On” and accommodating return policy will help you figure it out. This brand really cares about their customers and tries to make their shopping experience as pleasant as possible.
Bluer truly did a great job with their Slim Skinny Low-Rise in Soul-Mate Dark – these skinnies are a great pair of jeans! Of course the $125 price tag makes them that much more appealing!
