STRÖM Tre Vintage Skinny Jeans in Dew Review
I’ve been wanting to check out STRÖM’s denim in person for quite a while now – every collection from their start in 2013 has been absolutely incredible. And I’m in luck as I finally got the opportunity to review two pieces from their Spring/Summer’14 line and the Tre Vintage Skinny Jeans in Dew are the first one’s I’d like to tell you about.

When I pulled these skinnies out of the box I could barely contain my excitement because they were selvage!!! Believe it or not I’ve never owned a pair of selvage jeans before…  As much as I love the whole selvage concept I just wasn’t sure if it was the right thing for me. Seeing my denim aficionado husband wearing-in his raw, rigid selvage jeans and jackets didn’t necessarily inspire me to do it myself – it just seemed like a lot of work and discomfort, at least in the beginning. On the other hand soft and stretchy selvage, which STRÖM is known for, is a different story that sounds much more appealing; I must say that Tre’s denim is absolutely amazing! The blend of 93% cotton, 6% polyester and 1% spandex has plenty of elasticity to keep you comfy even in a slim pant and has an incredibly nice and supple “hand”. Who knew that selvage jeans, especially skinnies, could feel so wonderful on?!

Dew, the wash of this jean, is quite awesome too! I really like its medium-to-light shade and the clean, vivid blue tone that is wonderful for Spring/Summer while also working very well for the rest of the year. Subtle hand-sanding with pronounced whiskering and slight abrasion on the front of the leg and back pockets is authentically hip and trendy while still tastefully restrained.

Tre is a classic 5-pocket skinny fit with a medium rise. The silhouette is slim throughout the hip, thigh and leg while not being second skin tight. The 10.5” leg opening is fairly narrow however is roomy enough for a comfortable cuff , even a higher one (and of course, a cuff is just a MUST to show off your selvage!!!). The 31” inseam is longer than the typical 30” which enables you to wear these jeans full-length even when rolled. I personally prefer a slightly wider cuff for the ankle length which will look great with strappy heels as well as with flats and sporty shoes.

Size-wise STRÖM seems to have it down as both pairs of jeans that I got to review (which are, by the way, two different cuts and fabrications) fit perfectly. This Tre is in my regular 24 and I would not change a thing.

Girls, if you are interested in getting some selvage these STRÖM Tre Vintage Skinny Jeans in Dew are the way to go! They are seriously rad and a true must-have if you call yourself a “denim head”.

I am the EU contributor and product reviewer for Denimology. From the time I was 5 years old browsing through my first fashion magazine I knew I wanted to be in this industry. While working as a Merchandiser at Gloria Jeans, the largest denim manufacturer and retailer in Russia, I discovered my passion for denim. It fascinated me then and years later it fascinates me even more. Every day I learn and discover something new and exciting about denim and am thrilled to do it hand in hand with all of you!
