7 For All Mankind Classic Denim Jacket in Absolute Heritage 4 Review
Going into the second half of the year 7FAM put together a very “solid” collection filled with cool, stand-out pieces. Among them are two denim jackets (and I believe a few more coming soon) that totally complete the Pre-Fall Line. The 7 For All Mankind Classic Denim Jacket in Absolute Heritage 4 is the first one I’m going to review as it’s also a great jacket for the last bit of summer.

Don’t let the “Classic” name fool you – here it doesn’t mean “usual” or “typical” but more “traditional” referring to the characteristic workwear cut back in the day. Straighter, simpler lines in the overall silhouette and details like piecing and pockets differentiate it from any other jacket I have and give it a minimalistic utilitarian vibe that is so chic when combined with more glam pieces. Vivid orange stitching and polished rose gold buttons really pop on the medium indigo shade and add more visual interest to this otherwise no-frill design. The Absolute Heritage 4 is a somewhat complex wash with beautiful highs and lows which complement the jacket’s simplicity and brings its style up a notch.

The silhouette of this jacket is quite special. Less tailored with more of a straight outline it is somehow not boxy or shapeless and looks really great on. It fits perfectly in the shoulders and lays flat around the armhole and chest area without bulging or even pulling when fully closed. The sleeves are quite long and will even be great for a very tall girl. The rest of us can just roll them or simply push them up below the elbows as the wide cuff allows you to do this 🙂 The jacket features a medium length with the waistband hitting above the hip bone. This length is universally flattering as well as versatile since it goes great with a variety of separates and different shaped dresses.

This jacket is done in a Japanese stretch denim with a 98% cotton, 2% spandex content. It is a heavier weight and feels very substantial, definitely enough to protect you from the chilly wind on a cool day. Though the fabric is pretty thick it is really soft which in addition to the nice elasticity makes the jacket super comfy.

I have a couple of 7FAM denim jackets and wear them all the time, especially the one in a medium blue wash. Besides here in LA I take it with me everywhere – to London, Moscow, Paris, San Jose, you name it!  It complements any outfit and with a scarf keeps me warm even in 45°F weather. It survived many washes and looks just as fab as it did three years ago. And though the Classic Denim Jacket in Absolute Heritage 4 is very different it is similarly universal – it’s simply the perfect “go-to” jean jacket that every girl MUST have in her wardrobe.

I am the EU contributor and product reviewer for Denimology. From the time I was 5 years old browsing through my first fashion magazine I knew I wanted to be in this industry. While working as a Merchandiser at Gloria Jeans, the largest denim manufacturer and retailer in Russia, I discovered my passion for denim. It fascinated me then and years later it fascinates me even more. Every day I learn and discover something new and exciting about denim and am thrilled to do it hand in hand with all of you!
