About the Spirit of 69:
The Spirit of 69 collection is a modern interpretation of a look and attitude that was started back in 1969 by the first generation skinheads. By working with brands that were involved or influenced by this very British subculture from its earliest days, Dr. Martens has created a collection that celebrates this hugely important tribe and their meticulous attention to detail as well as the relationship it had with ska, rock-steady and reggae that still shapes youth culture in terms of music, style and attitude to this day.
The collection is all about style and detail, specific materials and practical durability. It compromises of Dr. Martens footwear, shirts from Brutus, Edwin Jeans and MA-1 flight jackets from Alpha Industries. A collaborative record box from Dr. Martens and Trojan Records completes the range, as a nod to the important relationship early skinheads had with music. The collection launches in Dr. Martens stores and online early September.
