Ron Herman has been making some awesome men’s jeans for ages leaving women jealous behind. However there is no reason for envy anymore as the brand recently launched a denim line for us girls and I must say it is quite amazing. It’s effortless and fun and truly embodies the laid-back Cali style which is so symbolic of the RH culture. The Boyfriend Jeans in Lily Repair are one of the pieces from the new Fall’14 Collection and they are so COOL!
The Lily Repair is a beautiful wash that strikes you first with its gorgeous powder-ish blue color. Among all of my jeans it really stands out with its vivid, chalky cobalt undertone that complements and boosts basically any color you pair it with. Confined whiskering and handsanding with mild distressing on the front contrasts with the clean indigo shade giving the wash an easy and discreetly authentic vibe. While not claiming to be “green” Ron Herman was able to achieve their cool, vintage-inspired looks in a very environmentally responsible way. Just like all of the washes in the Fall line, the Lily Repair was done using Wiser Wash ozone technology with non-toxic chemicals and 99% water and 76% energy saved which is absolutely amazing considering how unfriendly traditional denim production can be to the environment.
Ron Herman created a truly great boyfriend fit. While being pretty slouchy on the top, these jeans are somewhat slim throughout the leg and therefore don’t look too baggy or shapeless. The butt looks great in them too and not like a sad, saggy pancake which is often the case with boyfriend jeans. With the pretty short inseam (approximately 27”) and wide 14” leg opening you can wear this pant rolled or full-length without a cuff. Personally I prefer the first option though the jeans look super cute both ways.
These boyfriend’s are made of relatively heavy-weight denim which helps maintain the silhouette and structure for a slouchy rather than baggy look. Although quite thick this fabric isn’t stiff and is very comfortable to wear. With the content of 95% cotton, 4% polyester and 1% lycra it has just enough stretch for great recovery without being too drapey and therefore looks more like a rigid denim which lends to the “borrowed-from-your-guy” style of the jean.
In this pant I was encouraged to size up for a looser fit and I am very glad I did. The 25 is perfect for me, roomy while not too much; my regular size 24 would have definitely been more like a skinny. However if you like your denim a bit slimmer you can go with your usual size, it certainly won’t be too small. Conversely there is no room to size down as some girls do with boyfriend fits.
I am so stoked that RH came up with a denim line for women as I totally love these Ron Herman Boyfriend Jeans in Lily Repair. From fit to wash to the minimalistic branding everything about them speaks to understated chic and effortless sophistication.
