Though the moto theme is in trend year around, Fall is the time when it reaches its peak. With shorter days, cooler temperatures and darker, deeper colors this season totally vibes with the charismatic, edgy motif. Biker leather jackets, chunky boots and cozy sweaters that have been tucked away in the closet all summer long become our favorite go-to pieces and of course are paired with some killer skinnies to complete the look 🙂 Black Orchid offers quite a few moto-inspired styles in their new Fall’14 Collection from elaborately embellished ones to those with lace paneling and intricate piecing. Of course I am very excited to review one for you today called the Payton.
This jean comes in two different washes, the Silver Shatter (beautiful steel grey) and the Mystery. My skinnies are in the Mystery wash which is probably my fave between the two although both are very pretty. The blue and black color-block makes this style that much more interesting and complex! However I like that the washed black of the knee and yoke panels and dark indigo of the body have similar intensity and therefore don’t contrast too much next to each other. While some can be distracting this color combo is subtle enough to keep the look easy and versatile. The characteristically moto horizontal stitching on the inserts is the perfect detail to add authenticity to the design. The zippers are also a typical feature of biker pants so they appear very natural and organic too. I do love the way they continue from the front to the back panel of the jeans – very cool and a somewhat unique placement.
This is the first time I’ve had a chance to try the Payton and just like other Black Orchid fits this one is great! These skinnies feature a 9” medium front rise with a raised back rise – a strong combination that flatters the stomach area as well as lifts and rounds your rear. The inseam is slightly longer than I anticipated and is about 31”. Surprisingly I like it in this style (perhaps even more than I would the shorter one) as the slight stacking at the bottom plays into the moto theme to give the jeans a more rugged appeal.
I really like the super-stretch denim of these jeans. It provides a close and smooth fit which is crucial for jeans with paneling. Keep in mind however that the stitching on the inserts limits their elasticity so you may be better off going one size up if you have an athletic build with muscular legs. Other than that the Payton in Mystery runs very much true to size.
The Black Orchid Payton Moto Skinny Jeans in Mystery are a great pair of denim; the brand did a really awesome job with them as well as with the rest of the Fall’14 Collection which is very cool and exciting. I simply can’t wait to see the next round of new arrivals!
