AG Jeans Secret Fit Belly® 5 Pocket Maternity Jeans Review

Hey there denim lovers! I’m back with another maternity review and this time I’m reviewing a pair from one of my fave brands: AG! If there’s one thing I love about AG denim, it’s how flattering it looks on the body. I always feel confident in a pair of AG jeans and I always love the fit (especially how it looks on my bum — haha)! Today I’m reviewing the AG Jeans Secret Fit Belly 5 Pocket Maternity Jeans in 16 Year Destructed, which is available at A Pea In The Pod, the perfect destination for all maternity fashions (especially denim).

I will be entering my 33rd week in my pregnancy this Thursday, and I have to say this pregnancy has whizzed by so quickly. I don’t know if it’s because I’m running after a toddler the majority of the time or what, but I feel these 9 months have flown by. The baby is due January 9th and we couldn’t be more excited. Did I tell y’all that we are waiting until the baby is born to find out the gender? We’re so excited! It’s the best surprise!

So back to this awesome denim … as I said above I always love how AG jeans fit on my body, so I was really stoked to get the chance to review a pair from their maternity collection. I really love this style because I feel that it’s not only very versatile, but it’s so on trend. If you read fashion blogs, or if you’re addicted to Pinterest (like many of us are) then you probably are seeing that distressed skinny jeans are where it’s at for denim these days. Every fashionista is donning them. I love dressing them up and down, but especially dressing them up a bit because I think the juxtaposition of a distressed jean with polished pieces is such a great combo.

I’m wearing a size 28 in these jeans. When I started wearing maternity denim earlier on in my pregnancy I was wearing a size 27, which is typically my pre-pregnancy size. However, now that I’m 8 months pregnant and have gained some weight, the size 28’s are more comfortable. Much like the other maternity jeans I’ve reviewed on Denimology thus far, this style also has the secret fit belly band that is attached to the waistband on the jeans and slips comfortably over my belly bump. It helps for a comfy fit and to ensure that the jeans stay up through a days wear. No one likes saggy jeans, right?

The secret fit belly is comprised of 84% nylon and 16% spandex — giving it perfect stretch. It’s snug enough for a great fit, but not tight or uncomfortable on your growing baby bump. The jeans themselves are comprised of 70% cotton, 28% lyocell, and 2% polyurethane. The denim is nice and soft and has just the right amount of stretch. It moves with you and hugs your every curve, but doesn’t stretch out through a day’s wear.

The inseam of these jeans is 28 inches, which I love. I’ve said this on the Denimology site many times in the past, but I just love skinny jeans that hit right at the ankle (or even slightly above). I just think it offers the most flattering look — “Parisian chic” in my opinion ;). I wore these jeans with a super low ankle boot, to emphasize the shorter inseam. However, these jeans would look equally great with just about any shoe.

The medium blue wash also plays into the versatility of these jeans. Medium blue washes just go with everything and transition through all seasons better than any other wash of denim. I love the slight fading around the denim, especially near the distressing. It also has whiskering around the front pockets.

Overall I’d say these jeans are pretty awesome and any prego gal should own a pair. If you’ve worn AG denim before, then you’re probably a fan of the look and fit, just like I am. So if you’re going to treat yourself to a pair of designer maternity denim, and you want it to transition easily through the seasons and be versatile in styling, then the AG Jeans Secret Fit Belly 5 Pocket Maternity Jeans in 16 Year Destructed is your pair!
